How do I make an appointment?

Please contact Jennie or Frida on: (07) 4051 6800 during business hours (Monday to Friday 9am-5pm) to make an appointment.

What should I bring to my initial appointment?

Please ensure that you bring your referral (if not sent directly by your GP) as well as any relevant past medical history and relevant imaging scans. A list of current medications is helpful.

You are welcome to bring a friend or family member along with you during the consultation.

Hours:

Dr Aemelia Melloy is available 9am-5pm Monday through Friday.

Patients can access 24/7 emergency care via the Emergency Departments at Cairns Hospital.

Cancellation Policy:

We require a minimum of 24hrs notification of cancellation of an appointment.

Fees/Costs of Consultation:

  • Initial consultation $200 (Medicare rebate $78.05)

  • Follow-up appointment $100 (Medicare rebate $39.25)

  • Early post-operative follow-up appointments have no fees incurred

Outreach Clinic Fees:

  • Amaroo clinics have increased fees due to travel and additional expenses. Current fees are as listed below:

  • Initial consultation $220 (Medicare rebate $78.05)

  • Follow-up appointment $120 (Medicare rebate $39.25)

How do I book an appointment with Dr Melloy?

Appointments can be made by calling Dr Melloy’s rooms and scheduling an appointment. A valid referral is required in order to receive a medicare rebate for the consultation.

Is there patient parking at Dr Melloy’s Rooms?

Yes – both on site and street parking is available at Flecker House. The on site parking is free of charge for patients, however the on street parking is metred.

Do I need a referral to see Dr Melloy?

You need a referral to see Dr Melloy in order to receive a medicare rebate. Referrals are an important method of communication between your specialist GP and surgeon.

Do I need to pay for my consultation at the time of my appointment?

  • Yes, we require payment on the day of consultation.

  • Current fees are $200 for an initial consultation (Medicare rebate $78.05) and $100 for a follow up consultation (Medicare rebate $39.25).

Does Dr Melloy charge a gap fee for surgery?

Dr Melloy participates in the Known Gap scheme for most surgical procedures. All pensioners will receive a pensioner discount.

  • Informed financial consent is the provision of cost information to patients, including notification of likely out-of-pocket expenses, by all relevant service providers, preferably in writing, prior to admission to hospital or treatment.

  • If you undergo a surgical procedure there will likely be several out of pocket expenses incurred. These include;

    • The surgeon’s fee

    • The anaesthetist’s fee

    • Day surgery or hospital excess – dependent on your level of cover

    • Pathology, medications

Do you see patients that do not have private health insurance?

Yes, Dr Melloy is happy to see patients without private health insurance. An estimate of fees can be provided by reception staff prior to your consultation.
